For Rodgers...

We are so saddened to learn about the death of Eureka member, Rodgers. He was a lovely man with a ready smile and a gentle way about him. A graduate of the University of Zimbabwe and a former teacher, twists of fate steered him to Norwich and then into Eureka. Our lives are all the better for having known him and shared moments finding wonder as we wandered together. He left us saying that, "he was going away."

Winter Wellbeing Festival

Winter Wellbeing Festival, Attleborough: today, Eureka members were proud to be part of a fantastic celebration of wellbeing, creativity and community collaboration in South Norfolk. We did three wellbeing wonder wanders and spoke to loads of people about what we do.

It was fantastic to be a part of this and was the first event we have ever been involved with as a group. If all goes well, we are going to use the rest of our 'We Can' funding to take the Eureka 'model' to Thetford. We've met with the amazing folk at Leaping Hare in the town and see kindred spirits there. It's going to be great to work with and connect with them and build together. Marvellous!

Eureka member David, going bananas.

Shelly Telly's adorable dog, Frank (Shelly is the person leading today's event). I got to walk Frank this morning - so cute!

Eureka member Alan, playing peek-a-boo in Attleborough Church, where we found wonder as we wandered. It is a beautiful, welcoming church and a credit to the town of Attleborough. Our thanks go to them for their open doors and warm welcome.

Without a shadow of doubt, optimists have more luck and shine from within

Feedback:
What does wellbeing mean to you?
"A moment to reflect, a catch-up on what makes me (and the people I care about) happy."

What are the three words you would use to describe your experience of wellbeing walking with Eureka today?
"Light, serene, fascinating"

Forgetting

Fergus the Aardvark needs to remember to forget, so we have sat him down in the St Stephen's Church café and left him reading, 'The Book of Idle Pleasures'. The first line reads:

"Sometimes we need to release our mental burden and just say to ourselves: forget it."

Four Years To The Day!

On this day four years ago Eureka Wellbeing Photography was launched. It was, to be honest, a quiet start. Like many community groups, in the initial period we had our ups and downs. However, here we are four years later with a loyal membership who - in the words of our mantra - continue to, 'find wonder as we wander.'

Wildlife Wonder

More great wildlife photos from Eureka member, Ernie. They feature a Common Lizard, a Mother Shipton (day flying moth) and a Green Hairstreak Moth, more commonly seen - or, rather, NOT seen! - flying high up in the canopy of trees.

Inspiration

The other day I received the following text from Eureka member, Jill:

'I sit in the sun listening to the birds sing while the fallen leaves make music on the ground! Eureka moment from Jill.'

I replied that this has inspired me to take a photograph inspired by her lovely words. Well, here it is! Taken at one of my favourite 'hidden' gardens in Norwich - at the Octagon chapel on Colegate -, here is a shot of the bench I sat on to listen to the birds and look upon the leaves for myself yesterday afternoon. Thanks for the inspiration Jill!

Print Pics

Eureka member, Julia, sent me the following message earlier today: "I thought I would send you some photos I took yesterday at the John Jarrold print museum, I spent 2.5 hours there. Fascinating!" Here are her photos...
